The Silversea Cruise line profile reflects generations of maritime and travel experience. In the early 1990s, the Lefebvre family of Rome conceived and organized a unique cruise company pledging to build and operate the highest quality ships in the ultra-luxury segment. The name "Silversea" was chosen because it connotes quality and luxury as well as capturing the romance and special sensations of the sea.

Silversea Cruises launched its first ship, Silver Cloud in 1994, followed by Silver Wind in 1995, Silver Shadow in 2000 and the newest ship Silver Whisper in 2001. The fleet was purpose-built for the ultra-luxury market, establishing a new class of smaller, intimate vessels that could slip into more exotic ports off the beaten path. These elite vessels were specifically designed for fewer guests, more space and the highest levels of personalized service, delivered by Italian officers and European staff.

Silversea offers a distinctive collection of specially tailored Elegant Explorations cruises. Created exclusively for the sophisticated traveler who has the time and passion to indulge in broad and in-depth cultural explorations, the new program offers nine extended voyages ranging in length from 34 to 123 days.

Highlighting the program are generous savings incentives and onboard spending credits of $500 (per person) for guests sailing 40 to 70 days and $750 for guests sailing 71 to 100 days. Complimentary Business Class air upgrades are also available with the purchase of optional air and hotel program on voyages of 50 or more consecutive days.

SilverseasCruiseLine is pleased to offer a new enrichment series called “The Spirit of Exploration”. On select voyages, an internationally acclaimed adventurer will serve as the ship’s Resident Explorer, hosting guests to a series of entertaining presentations that reveal the explorer’s knowledge, personal insights and quest for discovery. The Resident Explorer will also accompany guests on selected shore excursions only on Silversea.

Silver Wind

The 296-guest Silver Wind starts the cruise year exploring South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, the Seychelles and the Arabian Peninsula. From March to early November, the ship will offer 25 cruises through the Mediterranean, ranging from seven to 16 days. Highlighting the ship’s extended summer schedule are return visits to exotic destinations like Beirut, Tartous and Tripoli, as well as inaugural calls to Derna, Libya and Zante, Greece. In the fall, the ship makes a transatlantic crossing to South America for a series of five cruises from seven to ten days, giving Silversea guests a chance to explore the new ports of Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina and Ilheus, Brazil.

Silver Shadow

A series of cruises to Australia, New Zealand and the Far East will kick off the year for the 382-guest Silver Shadow. Highlighting the winter and spring voyages are first-ever calls to Eden, Exmouth and Kangaroo Island, Australia; Kura Kura, Indonesia; and Pusan, South Korea, plus return visits to China, Japan, Cambodia and Vietnam. During the summer, the ship returns to ever-popular Alaska and the Pacific Coast, offering a series of ten cruises with an inaugural call in Ventura, California. During the fall, the ship transits the Panama Canal en route to the Caribbean, where guests will have a chance to discover the unique beauty and charm of Bocas del Toro (Panama), Costa Maya (Mexico) and Grand Turk Island – all new ports for Silversea.

Silver Whisper

During winter, Silver Whisper visits the sun-drenched beaches of the Caribbean and Mexico on 14 different itineraries, ranging from four to 15 days, highlighted by Silversea’s first-ever call in St. Eustatius Island, Netherlands Antilles. The 382-guest luxury ship transits the Panama Canal twice and makes an inaugural call in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua before crossing the Atlantic. From May through October, the ship will offer 18 cruises through the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, including several three-day stopovers in the celebrated city of St. Petersburg. In the fall, Silver Whisper transits the Suez Canal and sets a course for the Far East, featuring calls in China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
